Measuring Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS)
The health and safety culture of an organisation is an important factor in ensuring the effectiveness of risk control. The health and safety management system is a key influencer of the safety culture.
Measuring aspects of the safety management systems through an audit process therefore forms part of the overall process of measuring health and safety performance.
Auditing Plays an Important Role
Safety Management System auditing is part of any excellent Safety Management System and is designed to help the organisation continually improve its OH&S performance and reduce risk.
An audit can be carried out to get a snapshot of what is going on at a particular moment, for example as part of a due diligence check or of an ongoing programme of continuous improvement.
Construct Health’s auditors are AS/NZS 4801 trained lead auditors, allowing them to design and develop audit tools tailored for your business needs, and to measure your business against a known and proven standards (AS/NZS 4801). They can also help with the ACC Workplace Safety Management Practices (WSMP) pre-audit.
Our auditors gather data, inspect workplaces, and conduct interviews. A report is then prepared, identifying areas that comply with the standards and those that don’t.
For areas that do not comply, our auditors will recommend actions that need to be taken and highlight critical areas.
